Modern Slavery Statement for Rubbish Removal Wimbledon
This Modern Slavery Statement is issued by Rubbish Removal Wimbledon for the financial year ending 31 December 2025. It sets out the steps we are taking to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our operations and supply chains. We recognise that modern slavery is a serious crime and a violation of fundamental human rights, and we are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all business relationships.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Rubbish Removal Wimbledon provides residential and commercial waste collection, recycling and clearance services in Wimbledon and surrounding areas. Our operations rely on employees, temporary workers and a network of suppliers who provide vehicles, equipment, uniforms, recycling facilities and subcontracted services. We acknowledge that risks of modern slavery can exist at various levels of the waste management and logistics sector, particularly in relation to low-paid labour, agency workers, and international supply chains for equipment and materials.
Zero-Tolerance Policy
Rubbish Removal Wimbledon maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour and child labour. This policy applies to every part of our business and to all individuals working for or on our behalf, including employees at all levels, agency workers, contractors, subcontractors and suppliers. We expect the same high standards from our suppliers and reserve the right to terminate relationships with any party that is found to be engaging in, condoning or turning a blind eye to modern slavery.
Supplier Standards and Due Diligence
We are committed to working only with suppliers who share our values on human rights and ethical conduct. As part of our supplier onboarding process, we assess new suppliers for their labour practices, working conditions and commitment to preventing modern slavery. We communicate our expectations clearly and require suppliers to comply with all applicable labour, health and safety and human rights legislation in the jurisdictions where they operate.
Where appropriate, we seek assurances from key suppliers regarding their own policies on modern slavery and their efforts to manage risks in their supply chains. Suppliers are required to notify us immediately if they become aware of any actual or suspected slavery or human trafficking in their own operations or supply networks.
Supplier Audits and Monitoring
To support compliance with our zero-tolerance policy, Rubbish Removal Wimbledon operates a programme of supplier audits and monitoring. These audits may include reviewing documentation relating to recruitment, working hours, pay, right-to-work checks, grievance mechanisms and health and safety standards. Where feasible, we may conduct site visits to high-risk suppliers or request third-party verification of their labour practices.
If any non-compliance or areas of concern are identified through audits or other monitoring activities, we work with the supplier to develop and implement corrective action plans within defined timeframes. Continued failure to address serious issues, or any evidence of modern slavery, may result in suspension or termination of the business relationship.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
We encourage openness and support any individual who wishes to raise concerns about modern slavery or unethical practices in our operations or supply chains. Employees, workers, suppliers and other stakeholders can report concerns to their line manager, a senior manager or a designated member of the management team responsible for compliance.
Reports can be made in confidence and will be treated seriously, investigated promptly and handled sensitively. We strictly prohibit victimisation or retaliation against anyone who raises a concern in good faith, even if it is not substantiated following investigation. Where necessary, we will involve law enforcement or other relevant authorities and fully cooperate with their inquiries.
Training and Awareness
We are committed to building awareness of modern slavery risks among our staff and key suppliers. Relevant employees receive information and guidance on recognising signs of exploitation, understanding our zero-tolerance policy and using the reporting channels available. Managers and staff involved in procurement or supplier management receive additional guidance on assessing and mitigating modern slavery risks.
Continuous Improvement and Annual Review
Rubbish Removal Wimbledon understands that tackling modern slavery is an ongoing responsibility. We will review this Modern Slavery Statement at least once a year to evaluate the effectiveness of our policies, due diligence measures, supplier audits and training. The review will consider any incidents reported, outcomes of investigations, audit findings and changes in legal or industry standards.
Following each annual review, we will update our approach as necessary, set objectives for improvement and communicate any significant changes to our staff and key suppliers. This statement has been approved by the management of Rubbish Removal Wimbledon, who take overall responsibility for ensuring that it is implemented and maintained across the business.
